Two of Cylite’s founding team have recently received significant accolades for their work in photonics over the past 3 decades.

We are particularly proud to advise that Dr Simon Poole was honoured in the Australia Day honours list. Dr Poole has been recognised as Officer (AO) in the General Division of the Order of Australia. He is recognised for distinguished service to science in the field of photonics research and development, as an academic, and to the telecommunications industry through advisory roles and board memberships. The award will be formally conferred by the Governor of NSW in May this year.

CEO Dr Steven Frisken has been honoured with the Optical Society of America (OSA)  Richardson Medal in recognition of seminal contributions as a researcher, inventor and entrepreneur, to a wide range of photonic technologies which have enabled the growth of the internet, and for inspiring an entrepreneurial culture. This award will be formally presented at the general meeting of OSA in Washington later this year.

Steve has also recently joined Simon in being elected as a fellow of ATSE – the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering, one of Australia’s 4 prestigious learned academies.
