Optical (OCT) Physicist

This new role would be a key member of the Cylite optics team developing the next generation Ophthalmic 3D imaging instruments and report to the Head of Optical Design. The role will have responsibilities including:

  • Building and testing next generation optical imaging systems and subsystems.
  • Assist the development of signal processing algorithms for advanced high resolution optical imaging systems.
  • Developing and optimizing algorithms and test procedures to calibrate and to qualify instrument performance.
  • Arrange with mechanical design team to release drawings to manufacturers and co-ordinate with suppliers to prototype lens designs.
  • Optical design from specification to review and final test of components.
    • Tolerance analysis and manufacturability
  • Develop a high level of personal expertise on the Cylite OCT optics design, construction of optics assemblies and all corresponding documented processes. Gain a thorough understanding of the underlying Optical Physics and its application at Cylite.

Equipment Automation Engineer – Labview

Working in Cylite’s Manufacturing Automation Team this role is responsible for automating custom designed machinery that will position optical components and ensure a stable build process. Responsibilities include:

  • Working alongside Mechatronics and Process Engineers to deliver precision manufacturing equipment that achieves micron level accuracy of component positioning.
  • Develop automation programs in LabVIEW that improves process time, accuracy, and repeatability.
  • Integration of a diverse range of instruments, actuators, and hardware including machine vision.
  • Integration of code developed in mixed environments such as MatLab, C++, or Python into LabVIEW.
  • Configuration and setup of automation technologies including distributed I/O (Wago, Beckhoff, etc)
  • Developing and optimising control algorithms.
  • Working hands-on with engineering and NPI teams to help define and understand equipment and software requirements.
  • Troubleshooting automation issues in production.

Manufacturing Technicians

Cylite is looking for full-time Manufacturing Technicians to join our rapidly-growing production team.  Working in a collaborative environment these roles include detailed inspection of components, assembly of parts and testing of systems to achieve our high-quality requirements. Responsibilities include:

  • Inspection and measurement of components against drawings.
  • Operation of test equipment and reporting of quality issues.
  • Inventory control including stock checks, labelling and record keeping.
  • Kitting of components according to work orders.
  • Preparation and cleaning of sensitive optical and electronic parts for clean room assembly.
  • Optical assembly according to documented processes.
  • System assembly including handling PCBA’s and wiring looms.
  • Testing of products per work instructions.

The successful applicants will have manufacturing experience involving detailed assembly of parts in a regulated industry with a strong work ethic and good communication skills.  Experience in handling electronic assemblies and PCBA testing would be highly advantageous, as would experience in handling optical components and working in a clean-room environment.  The ideal candidate would also have qualification in a technical field to TAFE or Diploma Level and experience in high-precision manufacturing or a laboratory type environment.
